I was just told that realtime was no longer in asterisk 12, but I find enhancements in 12.2-rc2 and no sign in the wiki that this is true.
Can someone comment?

All significant changes should be listed in the UPGRADE*.txt included in the Asterisk source code.

Yeah, and I didn't find anything there. I was looking for something a little more concrete that "it should be..."

Realtime has not been removed or deprecated. A new model for newly
written modules has been created, but nothing existing has been migrated
to it or even will be (it's a fundamentally shift).
