|
|
Hi All,
I've a BT Versatility PBX that I want to connect to my asterisk 11.9.0 box via BRI port in NT
mode but actually I wasn't able to get it working. I've another standalone PBX, it's a
Panasonic model, which works fine connected to the same port. The BT connected to a UK
BT BRI line works quite fine after roughly a minute once connected. The PBX can be
seen at http://www.telephone-engineer.com/downloads/versatility/versatility-installation.pdf
Putting the pri span in debug mode I can see the following log continuously scrolling
and the PBX never synchronize with the openvox B400P card:

You might want to try bri_net_ptmp since bri_net is for point-to-point operation
and you are not getting any response from the BT. The BT may be expecting
to operate in point-to-multi-point mode. Otherwise, you may have a cabling
problem.

Actually I've also tried to set it in PTMP mode without success. The BT
landline
seems configured in PTP BTW. Regarding the cable, it seems to work
because I've
used it to connect the Panasonic PBX which indeed work.
Cheers,
Roberto Fichera.

The main distinguishing thing between PTP mode and PTMP mode
with chan_dahdi/libpri is the TEI being used. PTP mode only uses
TEI=0. PTMP mode uses auto-assigned TEIs.
You could also have an issue with terminating resistors. Only one side
should have them in the circuit. If both sides have them or neither side
has them then you will have communication problems.

Hi, it seems have problem with physical issue layer 1, first check wiring connection, by the way you can check with card led (If ISDN plugs into the port, the LED will not blink, but in red color.) after dahdi alarm status, and dahdi restart command.
At last should be signalling mode to signalling = bri_cpe_ptmp
Good luck

Does the BT Versatility system you are trying to connect require a voltage on the line, which it would normally get from the BT connection?
Some BRI equipment does, and some does not, and it may be the Panasonic system you refer to is happy without the voltage, while, perhaps, the BT Versatility needs it.
If you find out that it does need the voltage, I do not think the OpenVox card you mentioned will supply it, but I can point you to a solution if required.
All the best,

Does anyone know how can I solve this problem?
Quote: | Quote: |
You might want to try bri_net_ptmp since bri_net is for point-to-point
operation
and you are not getting any response from the BT. The BT may be
expecting
to operate in point-to-multi-point mode. Otherwise, you may have a
cabling
problem.
|
Actually I've also tried to set it in PTMP mode without success. The BT landline
seems configured in PTP BTW. Regarding the cable, it seems to work because I've
used it to connect the Panasonic PBX which indeed work.
|
|
Indeed, this might be something to recheck. This might also explain the rough minute
the BT Versatility needs to synchronize against the BRI.
Actually the openvox card is set to terminate the BRI line with the usual 100ohm.
Cheers,
Roberto Fichera.

As said before the cable works fine because I've already used it with
another PBX (Panasonic). The PTMP seems not be the problem because the
BT land line works in PTP and if I switch to PTMP the OpenVOX card I can
see lots of errors in the log.
Regarding the LED things I'll check tomorrow morning.
Cheers,
Roberto Fichera

The OpenVOX B400M can supply external voltage via dedicated connector.

Just checked if the BT Versatility takes or not the voltage from the NT-1 and it does! So the problem looks really this!
Can you point me to how supply voltage to the PBX while I'm waiting the given OpenVox adapter being delivered?

If the OpenVox card can supply the voltage, then it will a configuration option (probably in hardware, like some jumpers) of the card itself.
I was going to point you to the Xorcom Astribank, which I know supplies the required voltage.
