I almost hate to admit this...but I'm still running Asterisk 1.2 on
Fedora 4 Very Happy

However, I'm planning on upgrading to 1.4 but it has been working out
just fine so far and I just can't find time to upgrade. Otherwise, at
least with Fedora I have had no major issues running Asterisk. Most of
any items I found for later releases, I was able to apply it in some
form on the older release. One would assume that it would work just
fine, but then again, if it isn't a production system you are testing
on, then just give it a try and find out.

Anyone tried Asterisk with Fedora 9 (recent release)?

IMO theres nothing wrong with running an old version of * or an old version of
the OS... as long as the box doesn't have a public IP bound to it.

If its an internal-only box and its running bug-free, why screw with it? If
you can get it to over the internet however... security becomes a big
concern.

I've got it running under Fedora 9... 1.4 branch, 1.6.0 branch, and
trunk all seem to work fine.

Oh, and by the way, thanks to the hard work of Jeff C. Ollie and Dennis
Gilmore (and the rest of the Fedora team), they've got some top-notch
Asterisk packages in Fedora. (I think it's 1.6.0 betas for Fedora 9.)
Type "yum list asterisk\*" at a prompt to get a list of all the Asterisk
packages.

I upgraded my home server with Asterisk to Fedora 9 the day before
yesterday. I use the Asterisk version that comes with Fedora 9.

Same here (FC4 + Asterisk 1.2.10 + TDM + TE + iaxmodem + Hylafax).
Working flawless for ages. Old * because I had problems with upgrading
zaptel and machine is in use 24/7 so no spare time to find out how to
upgrade zaptel and correct errors. But again it works flawless.

bye,
