This is a handy way to add filters to what you see on the fs_cli. Event sockets allow for filters and the "/filter" command lets you add them to your fs_cli session.

Also, I forgot to mention that this is used in conjunction with the "/event' command. Open fs_cli and execute these commands:
/log 0
/event plain all
At this point you will get no log messages and just events. Now you can filter them as needed. Example:
/filter Event-Name CHANNEL_EXECUTE
Have fun!

Like Asterisk we can debug sip by
sip set debug ip xx.xx.xx.xx.

No can do. There are better tools to do that. tshark, wireshark and all other variants can do that for you.

JM is correct here. The filter is to filter FreeSWITCH events, not log information hitting the console. I highly recommend this page for SIP traces:

I would recommend learning about read filters in tshark/wireshark, which
support a very flexible filtering language that is suitable for capturing SIP
traffic.
