| A gateway is simply a means of doing an outbound registration to another server. Once the gateway is created you may send calls out on it. A typical use for a gateway is for you to have your FS box register to your SIP provider. Once you have your FS is registered to your provider you can then send and receive calls.

endpoints that you are sending/receiving calls to/from .... It is useful to have a separate configuration (other than dialplan) when you need to specify credentials for GW to register somewhere, to specify domain, etc, etc ...
