|
Greetings to all !
I am looking for any "user experience" and/or recomendations for headsets that can used with softphones on a pc (using the build in soundcard or an external (usb?) adapter.
Had some first, bad, experience with the 2$ ones i had in the office so i am looking for something that has some build in echo cancelation and cost less than an actual voip phone
Any comments/ideas/pointers are welcome.

I’ve had decent experience in testing situations with the Sony Playstation2 headset (its built to be kid-resistant, USB 1.1, standard USB connector) and x-lite and other similar softphones. The “computer” headsets I’ve used *sucked* at 3-4x the price. You can also use USB Bluetooth adapters and BT headsets, but your mileage will vary – if you go this route be sure to use USB extensions to move your USB BT adapters away from the metal chassis of your PC (I generally just Velcro them to the top of the user’s monitor, provides for fairly universal coverage around the room).
Good luck!

Hey, Stelios! I hope all is well.
Take a look at the Plantronics .Audio 480 USB. It is what I use and it works very well.
Talk to you soon.

Plantronics has always done well by me. In fact, the $19 regular
headset sound as good as the $40 USB one, but the latter has a mute
button and a volume control, which are both handy. However, these
controls will eventually wear out with constant use. They also make
very good headset for IP phones.

We are using Plantronics noise canceling headsets and their DA40 USB adaptor. They have other USB adaptors, but we liked that the DA40 has no user controls, e.g. mute or volume. The audio quality (for voice) is good. I personally use a Sennheiser USB headset for music listening and VoIP, and I'm happy with it, although it doesn't appear to be super strong.

I use a Logitech usb headset (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Premium-USB-Headset-980374-0403/dp/B0007SXHP0) and have been very happy with it. I keep it in my briefcase and use it with JackenAIX on my Mac. It's comfortable and durable. There is an echo-canceling version available as well. Todd
