Well saying that you are depressed and worried about your business does
not inspire confidence that the business will be there to support anyone
who buys your products in the future. that would certainly give me
cause for concern in buying a product.
If you get inquiries and do not convert those to sales, perhaps it
relates to either the product itself, or the technique that you used.
There are consultants that you can hire to assist you in both of these
areas if you are truely concerned and want to evolve as a business.
However, these questions are not related to asterisk so this list may
not be the best place to ask them.

Hi Andy,
I know how you feel as I been in sales for over 30yrs. I can only tell you that I work with a funnel. Only 25% of the people who show an interest will buy. That’s why I look for business every day. I call 70 people a day or more to get a enough in my funnel to make sure If a deal doen't make it to the end, I have enough to cover it. Selling is not easy.

Cliff,
If you convert 25% of your calls to sales you are great!

Not calls, people who show an interest that I put in my CRM, I find that’s about 1% of all the call I make and get someone to talk too. Thanks you for thinking that I can convert 70 calls a day to 25% of sales. It doesn't work that way.

Then you are just selling teh wrong product. I could do that with the
right product, unfortunately I havent found one yet that will do that.
I was thinking something along the lines of something that is free, no
commitment, totally anonymous, and would be useful and profitable for
each person I call to possess. Somehow I dont think I will ever find
such a product :)

I like what I sell, and I think a Hosted VOIP product does very well in the area that I selling (20 user or more). The difference is that the company I work for does it right. The devil in the details and with VOIP that will make or break a company. I love what I do

Andy is just being too honest and some may construe it as weakness.
All small business owners (medium and large too) go through this at
some point. I suggest that you keep those feeling to a close few in
your life, let the feelings out of course, but don't publish them for
the whole world.
My suggestion is that you find and develop a relationship with
someone/company in your target markets. You are the manufacturer,
your problem is that you have no distribution chain in place to get
your products out there. Offering wholesale to the list may turn up a
few people in the right position to carry and distribute your products
and are trustworthy but it may not as well.
I think you should find a company that does something already along
the lines of the product you are offering, make contact, if you see a
real interest, send a demo unit for free (R&D, staffing, overhead is
much more of a worry when nobody is buying). If your product is good,
it will sell itself, you just have to get it into the right people's
hands in the right vertical or niche market.
Vehicles, children, pets, possibly law enforcement, health care
(elderly with dementia) seem like obvious verticals, a niche would
serve you very well.
Thanks,
Steve Totaro

| I would like to clarify that a bit. there are many on this list, some
who post, some who dont. There are also some (probably most) who are
trustworthy, then there are those who arent. Just like anywhere else in
the world. So just to be clear, just because they are on this list does
not mean they are trustworthy, however given this lists apparent desire
to let it all out at the first opportunity, I am sure that if you wanted
to question about how trust worthy people are, you are likely to get

Andy:
Congratulations for your sincerity. And I don’t think your question is off the mark either. My personal opinion is that this forum is not really the best venue for end-user sales. Reason is: most people here are not end users. We are all selling, and mostly selling the same stuff. This forum is a better venue to network and to make alliances (whatever that means). Some in the forum will contact you mostly to check if what you have is what they have. Unless you have something no one really has, and if so, everyone will want to make business with you. For end-user sales, you are better off looking to end user channels. And by the way, if you are not offering something that has to do with Asterisk, they would not be interested either. You can be offering the cure for the flu, but no one will be interested in buying it unless they have the flu.
That being said, I think you are in the correct path, since you have saved yourself months of shooting in the dark, just for asking this question.
