Hi all,
I have a TDM400 with all FXO on it. When I make an outgoing call, I
can hear callee but callee claims the volume is too low so that he/she
can't hear very clear. Can I adjust to increase the volume in callee
side? Is it increase the value of txgain can solve the problem?

Ango,
If you search around for zaptel txgain you'll probably find a lot of
info about tweaking it. Zaptel has optional tools installed with it
(zt*) to meter and adjust the levels. Every article or post has a
different take: are there parameters percent, integers, DB? Just keep
trying and watch the "meters".
Here is but one example:
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+zapata+gain+adjustment
(with the usual disclaimer about http://voip-info.org being out of date)
Look for ztmonitor. I believe these tools are now an option on the
mensuselect dialog.

Yep, just have a look in /etc/asterisk/zapata.conf
If you want to make it so they can hear you better update the txgain.
You might want to check if Digium recorded messages are also quiet
though. Like if they go through to VoiceMail.
If the volume is ok for VoiceMail then the problem is the microphone
volume on your phone.
I normally do ztcfg -v from the command line and module reload
chan_zap.so from the Asterisk console, although it may be the case that
both are not required.

BTW: as of 1.4.8 there's also a way to ask the driver to change hardware
gain at the d2a/a2d conversion chip (hwgain in latest zapata.conf). At
the moemnt this is only implemented for FXO mofules of TDM400/800/2400 .
Which happens to be what you have...
