Hello,

wondering if there is known some performance overhead when Asterisk is
translating may concurrent calls from SIP to IAX2. We are facing some
high CPU load issues
when translating more then 30 simultaneous calls from SIP to IAX2. CPU
load stays somewhere above 60% on dual core xeon CPU server. There
is no codec translation involved, its just sip (alaw) to iax2 (alaw). We
can also seen that some IAX2 calls has been randomly dropped and not
beeing even connected.
When we changed IAX2 to SIP and doing SIP->SIP only there are no issues.
I just can't believe channel translation needs that much CPU resources
when asterisk
stays in the media path.

I have jitterbuffer enabled in iax.conf, asterisk is 1.2.28, latest zaptel.

Any comments to this?

Thanks,
David
