The bottom line is to get (D)AHDI in there, Digium, owning the
trademark, and control of it.

An argument can be made that DAHDI is only entitled to trademark status
as a derivative of their company name, since the phrase is it an
acronym for is merely descriptive, I think.
That has no bearing on whether Google will sell you the word, of
course.
